About this Speaker
Matthew R. Rantanen is the Director of Technology for the Southern California Tribal Chairmen's Association. He is also the Director of the Tribal Digital Village Network (TDVNet). TDVNet has supported wireless networking for tribal communities of Southern California since 2001. He also works in partnering and business development for Arcadian Infracom. Matthew is of Finnish, Cree Indian, and Norwegian descent. He has been called a "cyber warrior for community networking." He fights for net-neutrality, broadband for everyone, and greater public consumption. He always looks out for the underserved.
Matthew has served as Chairman of the Board for two terms. He also served two terms on the FCC Native Nations Broadband Task Force. He is now Vice-Chair and Treasurer for Native Public Media. He serves on the inaugural board of the American Indian Policy Institute at Arizona State University, too.
Matthew is on the Tribal Advisory Group. He works with the National Congress of American Indians. He is Co-Chair of the Technology and Telecom Subcommittee. He has the same role in its Technology Task Force. Matthew is part of the Broadband Advisory Group for the Western Governors’ Association. Additionally, he is currently a senior advisor on tribal broadband to the Golden State Network in California. Matthew still works with these partners to get broadband to underserved communities.
